Many researchers have reviewed the scientific literature regarding the Aloe vera plant and its products. Aloe vera is well-known to have a number of pharmacologically active ingredients, including a carboxypeptidase (helps to mature proteins & regulate biological processes) that inactivates bradykinin, causes blood pressure to lower, in vitro, salicylates, and a substance(s) that inhibits thromboxane formation in vivo. Scientific studies exist that support an antibacterial and antifungal effect for substance(s) in Aloe vera. Expert’s studies and case reports provide support for the use of Aloe vera for the treatment of radiation ulcers and stasis ulcers in man; burn and frostbite injuries in animals.
